Ovulating? What???
Yesterday, I began having great EWCM. There was still plenty today so I decided to take one of the OPKs left in the closet just on a whim. AND . . .
Yes, there was a positive, smiley face staring back at me! What? Is this even possible? Can I even ovulate with my ovaries still twice their normal size and full of large cysts? I am so confused. Normally when I see this, I am jumping around in excitement and gearing up for some great baby-making lovin', but now I am just utterly confused. I can't understand how this can be possible. I haven't been cleared for exercise or sex yet, so it doesn't really matter. But...do I just have sex??? I don't want to risk anything, but I go a little crazy at the sight of one of these smiley faces. All in all, I'd just like to know what is going on with my body. Every time I think I know, it throws me a curve ball.
So again, anyone???

There are several possible senerios here, but if your ovaries are still really enlarged, I would avoid sex unless you are willing to be hospitalized again. IF somehow your body has managed to make a mature egg...and actually is ovulating (unlikely), AND if it is fertilized and implants...it will start making hcg - you will get OHSS again :( I know...those are a lot of if's. What is most likely happening is your body is trying to regulate back to normal and your wacky hormone levels are causing chaos...which result in the EWCM. Having sex will likely be harmless (execpt in the unlikely above example) but if your ovaries are still that swollen, it will be painful. Hopefully in a few weeks you will be completely back to normal - it just takes a while.

I'm not sure how to advise you here...If you are comfortable calling and asking a nurse, I'd say do that but given all the stuff you have had to deal with at that practice, I don't blame you if you don't want to call.
That's very interesting though that you got a positive OPK...Keep us all posted! - September 8, 2011 at 8:38 AM

Thanks for the input. After what Sybil said, I am definitely not jumping in the sack anytime soon,, though of course it is tempting when you see that smiley face. I'm sure it would still be painful and the thought of complicating things again in any way is enough to send me running the other direction right now!
Still crazy EWCM, but using my self control. Besides, after chasing around after 20 kindergartners for the first time in 3 months and still not quite full strength, I am pretty much ready to collapse at the end of the day anyway.
It is nice to have a break from everything, but I am definitely understanding how habitual this all can become! - September 8, 2011 at 6:44 PM

Oh, and H . . . I had a call into my doctor on Tuesday asking how the Friday ultrasound looked and just generally seeing if I was cleared for exercise and intercourse. No reply yet. It might be time for a change.

It does seem like it may be time to change Dr.s. Hopefully there are some good options near you.
